What should I do?
Here is a wonderful quote for us to ponder over, Quote: “We cannot depend for counsel upon humanity. The Lord will teach us our duty just as willingly as He will teach somebody else. If we come to Him in faith, He will speak His mysteries to us personally. Our hearts will often burn within us as one draws nigh to commune with us as He did with Enoch. Those who decide to do nothing in any line that will displease God; will know, after presenting their case before Him, just what course to pursue. And they will receive not only wisdom, but strength. Power for obedience, for service, will be imparted to them, as Christ has promised. Whatever was given to Christ–the “all things” to supply the need of fallen men–was given to Him as the head and representative of humanity. And “whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.” 1 John 3:22.” {DA 668}
Back to a favourite text, James 1:22-25 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth [therein], he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
To God, hearing and doing; are in essence, the same animal, as you cannot effectively separate them. You can disassemble a bicycle and put it back together and still have a bike, but if you try that with a frog, in the end; you only have a dead creature; you cannot separate frog and life and re-assemble and still have a living frog. So with hearing and doing, for it takes them both combined together to have life here and life eternally.
The term Christian came about into existence in Paul’s day, because the believers kept talking about Jesus Christ, quoting his words, doing miracles just like he did; yes, they were a clone/duplicate of Jesus Christ, they were “doers of the word and not just hearers only.” Can we today quote more Cricket Scores, who plays on which team, who holds the track record for what, the latest scandal; and then struggle to quote John 3:16 correctly? What has happened to us all, have we lost our Gospel Commission?
What has happened to us Christians? Have we forgotten our Saviour, or do we follow another Jesus, a clone a substitute that has snuck in and our gaze and goals have shifted. Back to our opening quote, “The Lord will teach us our duty just as willingly as He will teach somebody else;” so when was the last time you ever asked him? Or have you ever asked him? Maybe we have horses and carts all mixed up, the wrong way round and in the wrong order.
Are you, am I living up to the standards we know, and living by the Bible? Or are we followers of a Preacher, Evangelist or the latest fashion in the arena for beliefs? Our opening quote encourages us to come back to Jesus Christ, to a living vibrant relationship, scripture based, scripture quoting, living, and breathing, working disciples, who look like and act like and then lives like our Master.
One Preacher put it basically like this; If God is not talking to you, then you need to go and complete that un-performed task that he gave you last time. He is just waiting until that task is done before you get the next one. If you cannot remember, then go back to God, and as they say, “eat humble pie,” repent, and then plead for a new task to perform, or for the old one that you have failed to perform, but this time, go out quickly and complete the task.
As you come to the end of completing the task in hand, the new one will come to you and then you can fluidly flow from task to task, Faith grows stronger, your scripture studies make more sense, and you get to experience that WOW!!; factor of working and associating with God. His ways are always the best and there is so much joy, pleasure and blessing from being in harmony and yoked up with Jesus Christ. Matthew 11:30 “For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.” It is so much easier being in Obedience, than existing in dis-obedience, and then there is eternal consequences, wages of Sin=death eternally, gift of God through Obedience is Life Everlasting. This existence we currently live in is like living on a rubbish dump, when we should really be living in the “Royal Manor House/Castle.”
I have committed to now living, and asking our Lord to teach me; “The Lord will teach us our duty just as willingly as He will teach somebody else. If we come to Him in faith, He will speak His mysteries to us personally.” Are you willing and committed, to jump off the Cliff, and spread those wings of Faith, and then to soar to greater heights; or are you going to be like Poultry, and to continue to scratch about in the dirt and walk; instead of soaring and flying?
I have given up scratching and walking, I am committed to soaring and flying as I continue to perform the wonderful tasks God gives me, and to see things that were impossible to my human eyes just roll back and disappear in front of my Faith eyes, as I see God’s mighty hand working with and for me so his will may be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. (Matt 6:9-13)
Dear reader; we are well down at the very end of this world, Jesus is so soon to turn up and then life as we know it will cease, and the redeemed of this earth will exit for Eternal Life, are you willing to work with him from today and then you will receive his approbation and a reward for the works you have done “In Christ.”
