Whistle Blower

There is an increasing new roll happening all around the world, and many of those that can afford it, they hire others to walk around their property at night and at each and every 10 minutes the watcher give their whistle a short sharp toot, one to warn away prowlers, and the other is to confirm to the householder that the walking security is actually walking and not sleeping.  Quote; “Today we must be faithful to our trust. Today we must love God with all the heart and our neighbour as ourselves. Today we must resist the temptations of the enemy, and through the grace of Christ gain the victory. Thus we shall watch and wait for Christ’s coming. Each day we should live as if we knew that this would be our last day on this earth. If we knew that Christ would come tomorrow, would we not crowd into today all the kind words, all the unselfish deeds, that we could? We should be patient and gentle, and intensely in earnest, doing all in our power to win souls to Christ. {HP 355}

God has called us to “watch and to wait,” so how good a whistle blower are you? Psalm 127:1 “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh [but] in vain.”  Ezekiel 3:17      “Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.” Ezekiel 33:4-6 “Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.  He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.  But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take [any] person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.”

Matthew 25:1-13 gives us the “Parable of the Wise and Foolish,” but unfortunately there was way too much sleeping, and not enough “Whistle Blowing Watchers,” so they were all caught out napping, not very effective “Whistle Blowers” were they?  A Roman Soldier caught napping on watch was normally executed immediately, sleeping on the job was a “death Penalty.”  Mark 16:15-16 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”  Jesus has hired you and me to keep watch, to remain awake and alert, to warn and to forever be a “Whistle Blower.”  How many times a day do you toot your whistle to confirm that you are still at your post and wide awake, I mean, did you send a prayer regularly heavenward confirming to God that you are still alert and wide awake, still on “Active Duty?” Are you a wide awake, alert and faithful “Watchman?”

Ezekiel’s message was all about being “Watchmen or Watch-Persons,” Mark 13:33-37 “Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.  [For the Son of man is] as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.  Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.  And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”  Here our Saviour Jesus Christ is giving us some “Insider Trading Information,” he does not give us the exact date and time of his, “Coming Ready or Not,” appearance to shut down this world and to call for every single person to step right up, in judgement and accountability, and to give account for their “Stewardship” of the assets and skills and abilities that God had given in their life and environment, and the Holy Spirit has bestowed on everybody in special gifts of the Spirit over and above this.

So what have you done with all these bountiful gifts God has so unselfishly and so bountifully bucketed out to you hourly and daily?  Are you a “good and faithful servant” welcomed into God’s Blessing, or are you a squandering, destructive and selfish consumer.  We have a string of Parables in Matthew, and here are a couple of interesting points.  Matthew25:28-33 “Take therefore the talent from him, and give [it] unto him which hath ten talents.  For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.  And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.  When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:  And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth [his] sheep from the goats:  And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.”

Sheep are all wise faithful and “Whistle Blowers” servants who are rewarded, Watchmen who are faithful are “Whistle Blowers” and so can you and I be faithful “Whistle Blowers” if we are “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” {James 1:22}  Can God count on you to be a “Doer of the Word” and a “Whistle Blower” or are you asleep on the job?
