Even at the Door

In Scripture, “The Door” is an interesting place, it is also a place of worship, it also appears that Adam and Eve regularly came back to the gate at the Garden of Eden, to worship and to peek through the door to view that which was once their home, now lost.  Exodus 33:8 “And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, [that] all the people rose up, and stood every man [at] his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle.”  Ezekiel 46:3 “Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the Sabbaths and in the new moons.”  Isaiah 66:23 “And it shall come to pass, [that] from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.”  The first verse is in special relationship to the Temple Complex Ezekiel walked around in vision, and we are not sure if it was the future plans for the replacement Temple to replace the one Babylon destroyed, or if it was to teach deep spiritual meaning, but it is very well worth careful study, but special note about “Doors” and how they were to be used.  Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

Ruth proposed marriage to Boaz on the grain floor, he accepted both her and the commitment, so instantly at dawn went up to the “Gate” or the “Door” to the city, where Judgement, Law and Justice was, their “Court Room.”  Ruth 4:1 “Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! Turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.” Then the rest of the story is amazing History, Ruth 4:18-22 “Now these [are] the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron, and Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab, and Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon, and Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed, and Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.”  All because of a Gate, “Even at the Door.”

For those caught in adultery, they were brought into Judgement, which was held at the Gate, “Even at the Door,” the trial evidence was presented, Judgement was given, the innocent walked away free, the guilty were punished with instant death, outside the door.  Deuteronomy 22:24 “Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, [being] in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour’s wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.”  Numbers 35:11-12 “Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.  And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.”  Deuteronomy 19:11-12 “But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:  Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.”  The “Cities of Refuge,” teach us lots, Numbers 35:24-28 “Then the congregation shall judge [At the Door] between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments: and the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.  But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled; and the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood: because he should have remained inside the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.”  Inside a “City of Refuge” and you are very safe, outside the Gate or Door, and you might not live very long as the “Avenger of Blood,” can and will slay you, Spiritually; Satan is hunting you for to destroy you.

The “Door or Gate,” is often referred to in the Wilderness Sanctuary, Exodus 29:42 “[This shall be] a continual burnt offering throughout your generations [at] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee.”   Leviticus 3:2 “And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it [at] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.”  Leviticus 8:4 “And Moses did as the LORD commanded him; and the assembly was gathered together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.”  Numbers 16:17 “And take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye before the LORD [the door of the tabernacle of the congregation] every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron, each [of you] his censer.”  This relates to the rebellion of Korah and his co-conspirators, and God judged them and punishment was issued and they perished in a moment, outside the door.  “Even at the Door,” of the Sanctuary and Tabernacle, “Cities of Refuge” concepts put them on the wrong side of the gate or door, thus they perished without the Door.  Quote; “Shall we wait until God’s judgments fall upon the transgressor before we tell him how to avoid them? Where is our faith in the Word of God? Must we see things foretold come to pass before we will believe what He has said? In clear, distinct rays light has come to us, showing us that the great day of the Lord is near at hand, “even at the door. {Ev 120}   Quote; “We cannot afford to live with no reference to the Day of Judgment; for though long delayed, it is now near, even at the door, and hasteth greatly. The trumpet of the Archangel will soon startle the living and wake the dead {LDE 73} Quote; “The exact time of Christ’s second coming is not revealed. Jesus said, “No man knoweth the day nor the hour,” But he also gave signs of his coming, and said, “When ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the door.”  “Even at the Door,” so which side of the door do we stand on, unto life or unto death, Judgement will be measured to everybody, but those on the wrong side get death, let us get it right, right now, it is “Even at the Door,” and “Eternal Life,” is for those who are right, and stand on the right side of the door, inside the door, cuddling up to Jesus their redeemer and friend.
