The Acid Test

The “Acid Test,”

In Heaven’s Plan,

Is how one works and how one lives?

And how we use the gifts God gives

God won’t require Accounting Fee

Of talents never given me

But in that hour, we’ll be surprised

What talents were unexercised?

So many folks complain and sigh

Because the Lord has passed them by

And gave to others talents rare

But left their lives so bleak and bare

We often hear them say, you know

If I could sing like so and so

Ha-Ha, then I could give the church a lift

But I can’t sing; I’ve no such gift

At judgement time, will God demand

How I have used Tom’s voice or hand

God will not ask what did you do

With talents never given you

But God will look at us and ask

How we performed each daily task

How we have used our means and time

And all of Heaven’s gifts sublime

A test of life for every man

The “Acid Test” in heaven’s plan

Is how one works, and how one lives?

And how one uses, the gifts God gives” [Anon]

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man.  For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil.”  Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 ERV “Now, what should we learn from everything that is written in this book?  The most important thing a person can do is to respect God and obey his commands, because he knows about everything people do—even the secret things. He knows about all the good and all the bad, and he will judge people for everything they do.”  Matthew 12:37            “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”  “The Acid Test.”

Belshazzar got a real fright when partying super hard, God wrote out for him a summation or conclusion, for his life and Kingdom were now all over, for he also died that very night, weighed in the balances and came up well short, “The Acid Test,” is the King failed miserably.  Luke records this story, Luke 12:18-21 “And he said, this will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.  And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, [and] be merry. But God said unto him, [Thou] fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?  So [is] he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil.”  Matthew 22:37-39 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”  Matthew 12:36-37 “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.  For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”  What is ‘The Acid Test’ going to divulge about your life that you have and are currently living.

To sum up this subject, here is our verse again, Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 ERV “Now, what should we learn from everything that is written in this book?  The most important thing a person can do is to respect God and obey his commands, because he knows about everything people do—even the secret things. He knows about all the good and all the bad, and he will judge people for everything they do.”  So in your life and mine, at the end, when all is said and done, when weighed in the balances, assessed and inspected, what is the “Acid Test,” that final summation?  Does that mean somethings now need to be urgently changed or attended to, right now?
