‘Denying the Power,’ this can either mean that you are powerless, got no power, flat battery, dead in the water, or it can also mean that you already have a power active in you, but then when confronted with an opposing or a different power, then you deny it access, no permission is granted, to this new power, you are deemed an enemy, I deny you any access or control over me. 2 Timothy 3:5 “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” But what is ‘Power?’ Scripture usually adopts the Greek term, Dunamis which is a Greek philosophical concept meaning “power”, “potential” or “ability”, from which we get the modern term, “Dynamite,” “C4,” “RDX,” “Nitropril,” “HMX,” “Semtex,” “T.N.T,” and many others, where a very small amount makes a huge amount of damage, bringing buildings and structures down, breaking up solid rock for mining, clearing hills away for roads, breaking mountains into crushed rock for pavements, concrete and so much more, something little that makes things really happen, very quickly, and the effect is staggering.
But what is “Power?” Well in ‘Drag Racing,’ what started out decades ago as a big block Chrysler Hemi engine, has since been so heavily re-designed, that a Top Fuel Dragster now has in excess of 30,000 Horsepower and a top fuel dragster accelerates from a standstill to 100 mph (160.9 km/h) in as little as 0.8 seconds, now that is what you call some serious “Power,” but the motor needs a re-build after each run, and with the fastest competitors reaching speeds in an excess of 338 miles per hour (544.0 km/h) and finishing the 1,000 foot (304.8 m) runs in 3.62 seconds, or even quicker, and the crankshaft only turns 480 revolutions from light to light. These cars are serious tyre melting, flame belching, fire breathing, earth shaking monsters, not to be trifled with, some real serious Power. But even though the driver’s seat belts are pulled down so tightly that the driver can scarcely breath, yet on launch, their body is so compressed hard back against the seat by the forces, that the seat belts flap about so loosely that they almost fall off as 8G’s take effect, well that is until the engine is shut down by turning off the fuel, the drag chute is employed, and the driver is then almost sieved through the restraining harness as the vehicle abruptly slows down to a stop, and that is what you call the power of “Acceleration” and “Deceleration.”
A military Jet Fighter when launched from the deck of an Aircraft Carrier, pulls the throttle up to full, feet planted hard on the brakes, which hardly even work now, afterburner is lit, and then the Steam Catapult flicks the plane airborne. The seats have three layers of cushion, and yet the crew have to push hard back into their seats just before launch to save themselves from serious injury, and their helmets still strike the metal plate the seat is made out of, they experience ‘G Forces’ Power, as the 4G’s of thrusting power and forces take over in a launch. Top Fighter Pilots face 9G’s, and they have a special G-Suit to protect them throughout the maneuver.
Take Bloodhound LSR for example, they are on track to achieve 1000+MPH, early runs of a miniscule few tons of thrust, 628 MPH came in just 50 seconds, with 200 to 500 MPH coming in an almost instant, and at 628 MPH the car is still accelerating extremely hard, right throughout the flying mile measure, and no rocket motor being fired yet. The car is unstable below 300 MPH, but then quickly settles down, but from start to stop, which takes about 2 minutes, that is accelerate then deaccelerate, but then you have covered 12 miles of desert, and consumed 390 litres of Jet Fuel. The car has two engines, one from a Typhoon Jet Fighter, the most powerful ever made, to get near the speed of sound, and then the rocket to in just a few seconds gives the essential thrust to claim a record. To get the car over about 700 MPH, the rocket is essential to blast for some 20 seconds, and hey presto, you should be at or exceeding 1000 MPH. If you have a spare £12 Million, they will even put your name on the car, and you get credit for the New Land Speed Record. The driver cannot touch the brake until he slows to below 200 MPH, and for the Land Speed Record, they anticipate 9 ton of thrust, instantly turning into 9 ton of stopping force on the driver, all in about 2 minutes, and that is some real power that you cannot deny, there is no way of “Denying the Power.”
In this life, what power is there? Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” John 19:11 “Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power [at all] against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.” God has Immense Power, so has Jesus who is the Creator, Revelation 14:7 “Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Genesis 2:4-7 “These [are] the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, and every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and [there was] not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
Anyone who has been active, or exposed to “Deliverance Ministry” will know the immense powers of sin and evil, we all have experience this evil power to some degree, for as Saints we were all once lost, once blind, once dead, but now are truly alive, and released from the shackles of sin, sin binds severely tightly and these are sometimes very hard to break, and even then after decades after release, the wounds are still tender, and temptation can be seductively beckoning, but we need to stay away from sin , remain free from it, we must flee into Jesus’ arms, clinging to him, “Denying the Power,” of evil to have any access to our souls. The “Power of the Gospel” is immense, greater than any explosive man can create, it is a power unto Salvation, the power of restoration and of re-creation, a new life as a child of God, the power of God in Christ Jesus our Lord, the power that frees the soul from death and degradation, a power greater than anything that we may ever come up against, it conquers death and the grave, it conquers the very gates of Hell, nothing can overcome us, nothing can dominate us, when we are dominated and infused by the power of God, heavens love pulsing through us, we live heavens lifestyle, Romans 8:37-39 “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
The ‘Power of God,’ is the greatest power in the Universe, it is the power of God Love, it is a ‘Power over Sin’ and death, it is the power of love and life, well unless you are deluding yourself. 2 Timothy 3:5 “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” Paul came to a group that appeared to be ‘Believers,’ but then there was that something not quite right, then he saw it clearly, they had a ‘form of godliness,’ a semblance, sort of looked like a Christian, but there it was, they were “Denying the Power” of God. Are you “Denying the Power” of Sin, or are you “Denying the Power” of God unto your Salvation??
